Book Review “Webs of Fate” by Darlene Quinn

I was thrilled to the bone to receive my hard copy of “Webs of Fate” the prequel to national award-winning “Webs of Power” by Darlene Quinn. The cover is done in dark mysterious tones and is beautifully and elegantly designed. If you follow me on Twitter then I’m sure you’ve seen me mention just how captivating this book was. I truly hated to put it down.

Book Description

A gripping story of greed, conquest, love, and forgiveness.

In the high-fashion world of the mid-’80s, Ashleigh McDowell falls victim to a painful betrayal by Danielle Norman, a naive and vulnerable young buyer who is fighting to save her plummeting career. How high a price will both women pay in their battle over a grave secret?

Each step Ashleigh takes to uncover the truth about Danielle’s actions–and her whereabouts–unwittingly exposes her to a criminal mastermind who feels events spinning out of his control. Unexpectedly, Ashleigh discovers an ally in her hunt for Danielle–the handsome Conrad Taylor. But is he the man who will steal her heart or break it?

In a race against both time and the emotions that haunt her, Ashleigh ultimately finds what fate holds for her.

From international award-winning author Darlene Quinn, Webs of Fate is a tension-filled work of fiction that creates the background for the personalities and motivations that drive the stories in Webs of Power and Twisted Webs.

My opinion for what it’s worth ;)

This book had me from the beginning. I read the prologue and was immediately and completely captivated. I knew I was going to find a wonderful novel within the 517 pages of this book. There wasn’t a day that went by that I didn’t spend part of reading “Webs of Fate” until I finished it. I love books that hold my attention. The twists and turns of this book were so fascinating. I never knew what to expect from page to page. Each character was cleverly designed with secrets that were shocking and scandalous and it made me want to know more about them.

This was the first book I’ve read about the high-fashion world of the 80′s and I was intrigued. I’ve always enjoyed detective thrillers so I wasn’t at all disappointed with this book. I wanted to finish this book long before I did to find out how it ended, but due to family illness and life’s busy paths, I wasn’t able to and now I’m really glad that I didn’t have the opportunity to rush through this book. I had to take my time to read it as this book so deserves. The tension and anticipation made me enjoy it all the more. There were times “Webs of Fate” had me at the end of my seat and other times when it had me getting out the Kleenex. It went from one extreme to the other and it made for a deliciously interesting read. This will be one of those books I will read again.

Do I recommend it? Absolutely
What would I rate it? 5 out of 5 star

You can purchase this book from Amazon here and I hope that you enjoy it as much as I did.

I could not agree more with this book review. I could not stop reading the book once started. What I loved most about the book was that it was filled with intrigue and run-a-way action, but stayed within the boundaries of fiction that could be read by youth to old agers. I loved this story.

That sounds like a good read – I’m a big fan of what I call “trashy reading” – post kids my brain doesn’t have the focus for Tolstoy anymore!

    • Oh you mean the “housewife porn” books? LOL. I don’t normally read them but I won one of those types of book and received a signed copy in the mail and I read it and I totally loved how the book ended. I will read some more of her, um, books… :)
If you get a chance to read Webs of Fate you should. I recommend it.
