I didn’t catch on very well in the reading department, but once I learned how, I’ve never stopped reading. I read daily, in fact, I read everything, almost compulsively, except important things, like instructions ;). Reading can be a lot of fun to learn with the right materials, and that’s where Reading Eggs comes in. Reading Eggs is a fun and colorful (and very helpful) website where children learn to read.

Reading Eggs

You can register for a FREE trial on Reading Eggs to see how well your child can actually learn to read in 5 weeks. And it really is free! You won’t have to submit your credit card information. I registered Abby because she is already showing signs of struggling with her reading. I’ve been challenging her to play on Reading Eggs and because it is a lot of fun, she’s improving a little each day.

I started Abby out at the very beginning without taking the reading test because like I said, she has been showing signs of reading problems. I wanted her to start at the beginner level with her reading skills. I love to read so much and I want to encourage her to enjoy it as much as I do. She loves for me to read to her and I love it when she reads to me as well.

Reading Skills

On Reading Eggs, kids have different options on what they need to work on. We bounce back and forth between the different tasks. Abby doesn’t have the best attention span and she has better results when we don’t stay in one area too long.

Abby loves her library, I set her age limit on books between 5 and 6 years. She just turned 6 on the 1st. She claims she wants to read 10 year old books {next year} and I told her if she keeps on improving, one day she would be at the 10 year old level. For now, she is enjoying the challenge of reading at a 5 to 6 year old level.

It’s such an easy site to use, all she has to do is use her cursor to tap on the page to turn it. The kids will have another holiday soon (they go to year round school so they get out quite a bit more than schools who have summer out) and I plan to have Abby work on the site more than we’ve had time for lately. It’s good to know that there is a site like this that I can rely on to help her use her online time productively.

Reading Library

I could go on and on about Reading Eggs because I’m that enamored with the site, however, I understand you have little ones to tend to so I’ll make this brief. Reading Eggs has a Read to Cure Challenge going on and this screenshot outlines a little about that…
