I’m a bit of a health nut in that I always keep fruits and vegetables on hand to snack on. Not just for me but for the kids as well. When we go anywhere, I always pack fruits and vegetables to take along too because no sooner than we get down the drive then they start complaining of being hungry. Even if we’d just eaten. Kids are food monsters. They have a never ending appetite and I don’t mind letting them snack between meals if it’s something healthy.
I wanted to review some Bento Style Lunch Boxes so I could taken them along with us on our outings, provided they stood up to my expectations ;). And they do, with flying colors. I’ll tell you why. But first, let me give you a peek at what they look like.
Go ahead and admire them. I did too when I discovered them. The kids have already picked out a color and declared it theirs. I love the different colors for that reason. If you have kids, you can probably relate. Guess what…? You just might be the lucky winner who will receive a Buddy Box Set of 4 Bento Style Lunch Boxes.
What I like most about the design of these is the ability to keep my foods separated. And while these are not guaranteed to be leak proof, I put them to the Abby test. I filled one up, added some water to the carrots section, put a lid on it and told Abby to play indoor football with Alyssa. So she did. And so did Alyssa. Until they started knocking things over and I took the Bento Style Lunch Box away from them. Miraculously, the fruit and veggies stayed in their own little sections and I didn’t have any leakage to clean up. I think that’s enough experimenting today, the kids really got into football mode *post super bowl stress* lol.
Another thing I like about these is the fact that I can fill them up, put them in the freezer, warm the meal up in the microwave and then put them in the dishwasher. Are you following me as to how many dishes I just saved from having to be washed and put away?
Another trait that the lunch boxes provides is that the kids can open these. Easily. I don’t have to stop what I’m doing to open their tops. Keeping fruit and vegetable handy where they can open them is a sure fire way of getting them to eat the good stuff. I haven’t been able to persuade them that broccoli is yummy yet no matter how many times I put it at their eye level and no matter how I display it. Maybe one day.
In the meantime, I’ll keep my Bento Style Lunch Boxes filled with healthy things I know they’ll eat.
