10 Perfect tips for older skin

10 Perfect tips for older skin

As you get older, skin loses its natural elasticity.  Amount of vitamins drops and it becomes saggy, wrinkly and dry. Because of this, makeup process changes drastically. Unlike young women who have liberty to try out different things, older women use makeup in a purely functional way.

But, due to this fact, it also means that you have to be very careful. There is a list of dos’ and don’t when using makeup. In order to get you properly informed, I have made a list of 10 tips that should help you with your skin.

  1. Try to put makeup without using powder. You can use concealer to cover bags under your eyes or some smaller imperfection but you shouldn’t overdo it. Powder tends to fall into pores and it puts focus on wrinkles instead of hiding them.
  2. If you still think that you need powder no matter what, choose lighter tones. Powder should be similar to your skin colour. In fact, it is even better if you buy a hydrating cream. Given that you have dry skin, it will provide the necessary hydration.
  3. Women who plucked their eyebrows when they were young should try eyebrow makeup in form of a powder instead of eyebrow pencil. If your eyebrows are rare, you should try using some more discrete solutions. Pencil will only highlight your eyebrows which are already very thin as it is. Colour can be applied with squared brush so that you can get a softer and more natural appearance of eyebrows. Do not forget to pluck strain hair!
  4. Avoid using eye shadow that has glitter. Instead of distracting a person, they will only highlight the wrinkles. It is best if you use eyeshadow which is not shiny. Matte shadow will not give good results when it comes to mature skin.
  5. Use a brush for your eyes and darker powdered eye shadow. Write a thin line as close to eyelashes as possible. The effect will be much lighter and it will lead to a better appearance. You will thank me when you take a look in the mirror.
  6. Brushes for blush can be too little and too thin. Because of this, you can easily make a mistake while putting makeup. Use a brush for powder as it is much wider. Do not stop with your cheeks but also apply blush on your chin, temple and forehead which will make your entire face look healthier.
  7. The perfect blush colour is the same colour your cheeks get when they become red. Apply thin layers of colour. This will make your skin look more natural and makeup will last longer.
  8. If your skin is naturally dry, instead of using blush in powder, make sure to use creamy type. After hydrating cream, apply colour on your cheekbone and rub it in while the skin is still moist.
  9. Like rest of your body, skin will lose their natural plump appearance. Their edges will lose their definition. Enhance the edges by using a lip pencil.
  10. Avoid lip pencils that are darker than your natural lipstick as it will make you look tacky. Choose nuances that are according to the colour of your lips. This tone will emphasise your lip contours and prevent lipstick smudges.

With these tips, you are on your way to restoring your youthful appearance. Always remember: make sure to hydrate your skin properly. Most of the problems come from dehydration and exaggeration. Make sure not to overdo it and use colours that are similar to your natural skin tone.

How to Save Money on Your Beauty Routine

Looking gorgeous can be expensive, especially if you have a penchant for upmarket cosmetics and hair-care products. The likes of the Kardashians and Jenners make it look very easy when they appear in a constant stream of glamorous selfies looking perfect, but it is important to remember that they have a lot of help behind the scenes!

Indeed, Kim has admitted in the past that she often takes 200+ photos before choosing one to upload to her Instagram account. To be frank, the rest of us don’t have the time for such behavior. We also can’t afford to use the same products as her, so if you are looking to save some cash on your beauty routine, here are a few tips.

Streamline Your Beauty Routine

The first, and most obvious, tactic is to look at your daily routine and see whether there are any areas where you can make savings. Say, for example, you have a habit of only using brand name cosmetics and beautify products. Do you really need to splash out on these? On the other hand, are there cheaper brands that work just as well? Do some online research. There may be products available for a fraction of the cost that do a better job.

Make Your Own Products

Face cleansers and face-masks can be pretty expensive, yet it isn’t so difficult to make your own natural products. You can use ingredients available at home: oatmeal, honey, natural yogurt, aloe, avocado, banana, and sea salt. Mix and match to create delicious products that cleanse and moisturize your skin. There are lots of recipes available online, so be creative.

Use Testers and Freebies

Most big brands give away small test pots of their products, to help customers decide whether the product is right for them. If you play your cards right, you can acquire plenty of test pots for free and avoid paying full-price for the product. Visit your local store and see what testers you can try. Freebies and test pots are also available online.

Have a Discount Haircut

Don’t pay full-price for a haircut. If you have short hair, use hair clippers from www.beautyplussalon.com to keep it tidy. Alternatively, if you prefer a less drastic look, make an appointment when it is trainee night at your local salon. The prices will be a lot cheaper and since all trainees are monitored very carefully, you don’t need to worry about dodgy haircuts.

Cheap Hair Color

Why pay salon prices when you can color your hair at home for free? Natural henna hair-dye is effective and non-permanent; there are also lots of home hair-dye products available at supermarkets and discount beauty stores. Just be sure to do a skin test before you use them.

Blog about Beauty

Writing a blog about beauty topics is fun. You may also be able to score some free products in return for unbiased product reviews once you build a readership.

Going for a natural look is the cheapest beauty routine in the world, so try it out at the weekend. You never know, you might like it.

The Steps You Need to Take For Silky Soft Skin

When the seasons change, so can your skin. A lot of people forget that our skin is a living thing. It is sensitive to changes in temperature and humidity, so it can get damaged or dried out easily. There are certain things that you should do for your skin, in specific seasons. But today I am just going to give you a general overview of how you can keep your skin feeling silky, soft and smooth.

One of the things that you need to remember is to exfoliate daily. Now I don’t mean scrubbing your skin, as that can cause a lot of damage. Plus, ouch. An exfoliating glove or cloth is a great idea to keep in the shower. Then it is a constant reminder to you, as you might forget at first. When you get into the routine of doing it daily, it will be much easier. Exfoliating helps to get rid of any dead skin cells and encourages your skin to regenerate. It is a must for smooth skin. Getting something like a sugar scrub is also a great idea to help exfoliate. The salt or sugar will help to remove gently the dead cells that are sat on the skin. Scrubs are easy to get and are priced reasonably. It is great if you can get one with essential oils in like tea tree. This will add extra goodness to the skin.

Drinking a lot of water is a must for soft, clear skin. Our bodies are made up of a lot of water. As our skin is an organ of the body, it makes sense that it needs a lot of water to be healthy. Having well-hydrated skin means it is less likely to dry out. If you skin isn’t dry, it will feel so much silkier and more smooth. It helps to keep your skin looking plump too, which makes you look a lot healthier. It can reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles too. So drinking water is a must at all ages. There is no need starting when you’ve already got wrinkles!

Now, back to the day to day care of your skin. When you are still in the shower, it is a good idea to use some oil for some extra hydration to your skin. So before you get out of the shower, use a little oil all over your skin. You could use any that you would prefer but one of my favorites to use is coconut oil. It has so many health benefits and it is perfect for skin. You could melt the coconut oil before you get in the shower, or just hold it in your hand and wait for it to melt from your body temperature and heat of the shower. Then rub it all over your body. What is does is it keeps the moisture in your skin. It helps to seal your skin cells, after the warmth of a warm shower too.

It is a good idea to use a moisturizer daily too. It might not be needed on all areas of the body, as the oil should help moisturize a lot of areas. One of the most needed areas might be your feet. Other areas that are prone to dry skin are the knees, elbows and face. So apply a good moisturizer as and when. If you have especially dry skin, then it might be a good idea to use a night cream. It is a thicker cream and works to hydrate your skin overnight, funnily enough. This would probably only be needed in winter but it is a good idea to have one on the house ready to use.

When you choose a moisturizer, it is a good idea to check the ingredients. If it has too many chemicals in, it can have a detrimental effect on your skin. You don’t want it to work against what you are trying to achieve. Look for natural ingredients and for things like shea butter. They can help to keep your skin smooth but in a healthy and natural way.

Some areas of our body have quite rough or lumpy skin. This could be as a result of an operation or from pregnancy. Quite often the lumps, or keloids, are caused from scar tissue. If you find that you have some areas of lumpy skin, then something like keloid removal might be what you need. It helps to remove the thicker, scar tissue areas. This means that your skin will be softer and smoother.

When you take showers, be sure to have showers that are warm showers and not hot. That might sound a little bit cryptic because everyone likes to have a hot shower, right? Just make sure that it is not too steamy-hot. If water is too hot, it can draw the water or moisture out of your skin. It can dry it out much more than just a warm shower does. So take the temperature of your shower down a few notches. You could also cut down the time you are in the shower too. It all helps to keep your skin silky and soft.

If you like to have baths now and again, then it is a good idea to add some natural products to it. Think about having a bath with about 500ml of milk and a few tablespoons of honey in it. Don’t worry, this amount of honey won’t make you super sticky! It will leave you with baby soft skin.

Whatever time of year it is, it is so important to use a sunscreen. UV rays on your skin can cause a lot of damage. They dehydrate your skin massively and can cause sun spots on your complexion. It can also lead to health problems too. Think about getting a face cream or foundation with an SPF in it. There are so many different ones on the market too. A BB cream is a good place to start.

Our skin is precious, so make sure you look after it accordingly.
