The Steps You Need to Take For Silky Soft Skin

When the seasons change, so can your skin. A lot of people forget that our skin is a living thing. It is sensitive to changes in temperature and humidity, so it can get damaged or dried out easily. There are certain things that you should do for your skin, in specific seasons. But today I am just going to give you a general overview of how you can keep your skin feeling silky, soft and smooth.

One of the things that you need to remember is to exfoliate daily. Now I don’t mean scrubbing your skin, as that can cause a lot of damage. Plus, ouch. An exfoliating glove or cloth is a great idea to keep in the shower. Then it is a constant reminder to you, as you might forget at first. When you get into the routine of doing it daily, it will be much easier. Exfoliating helps to get rid of any dead skin cells and encourages your skin to regenerate. It is a must for smooth skin. Getting something like a sugar scrub is also a great idea to help exfoliate. The salt or sugar will help to remove gently the dead cells that are sat on the skin. Scrubs are easy to get and are priced reasonably. It is great if you can get one with essential oils in like tea tree. This will add extra goodness to the skin.

Drinking a lot of water is a must for soft, clear skin. Our bodies are made up of a lot of water. As our skin is an organ of the body, it makes sense that it needs a lot of water to be healthy. Having well-hydrated skin means it is less likely to dry out. If you skin isn’t dry, it will feel so much silkier and more smooth. It helps to keep your skin looking plump too, which makes you look a lot healthier. It can reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles too. So drinking water is a must at all ages. There is no need starting when you’ve already got wrinkles!

Now, back to the day to day care of your skin. When you are still in the shower, it is a good idea to use some oil for some extra hydration to your skin. So before you get out of the shower, use a little oil all over your skin. You could use any that you would prefer but one of my favorites to use is coconut oil. It has so many health benefits and it is perfect for skin. You could melt the coconut oil before you get in the shower, or just hold it in your hand and wait for it to melt from your body temperature and heat of the shower. Then rub it all over your body. What is does is it keeps the moisture in your skin. It helps to seal your skin cells, after the warmth of a warm shower too.

It is a good idea to use a moisturizer daily too. It might not be needed on all areas of the body, as the oil should help moisturize a lot of areas. One of the most needed areas might be your feet. Other areas that are prone to dry skin are the knees, elbows and face. So apply a good moisturizer as and when. If you have especially dry skin, then it might be a good idea to use a night cream. It is a thicker cream and works to hydrate your skin overnight, funnily enough. This would probably only be needed in winter but it is a good idea to have one on the house ready to use.

When you choose a moisturizer, it is a good idea to check the ingredients. If it has too many chemicals in, it can have a detrimental effect on your skin. You don’t want it to work against what you are trying to achieve. Look for natural ingredients and for things like shea butter. They can help to keep your skin smooth but in a healthy and natural way.

Some areas of our body have quite rough or lumpy skin. This could be as a result of an operation or from pregnancy. Quite often the lumps, or keloids, are caused from scar tissue. If you find that you have some areas of lumpy skin, then something like keloid removal might be what you need. It helps to remove the thicker, scar tissue areas. This means that your skin will be softer and smoother.

When you take showers, be sure to have showers that are warm showers and not hot. That might sound a little bit cryptic because everyone likes to have a hot shower, right? Just make sure that it is not too steamy-hot. If water is too hot, it can draw the water or moisture out of your skin. It can dry it out much more than just a warm shower does. So take the temperature of your shower down a few notches. You could also cut down the time you are in the shower too. It all helps to keep your skin silky and soft.

If you like to have baths now and again, then it is a good idea to add some natural products to it. Think about having a bath with about 500ml of milk and a few tablespoons of honey in it. Don’t worry, this amount of honey won’t make you super sticky! It will leave you with baby soft skin.

Whatever time of year it is, it is so important to use a sunscreen. UV rays on your skin can cause a lot of damage. They dehydrate your skin massively and can cause sun spots on your complexion. It can also lead to health problems too. Think about getting a face cream or foundation with an SPF in it. There are so many different ones on the market too. A BB cream is a good place to start.

Our skin is precious, so make sure you look after it accordingly.
